The Decatur Dixon Press was founded in 2024 to publish illustrated classics and experimental between genre fiction and nonfiction for readers of all ages. Our small press hopes to promote a love of books and illustration.
Our editors are experienced academics with a love of literature and experimental genres. We are currently seeking writers, illustrators, and guest manuscript reviewers with expertise in the fields of illustrated classics and adaptations, art history, and new fiction/nonfiction crossovers.
We are currently accepting manuscript proposals. Please contact us for details on submitting your next book.
Decatur Dixon Press is the first publishing company to double as a work of experimental art. Founded by a visual anthropologist and an art historian-curator, DDP seeks wholly interdisciplinary content that re-thinks the possible, even challenging traditional book organization and structure.
Decatur Dixon Press is a platform for sharing exciting new manuscripts with a focus on emergent authors, artists, and illustrators. Going forward, we envision an expanding line of content through a number of thematic series. The first series, Illustrated Classics, transfigures the commonplace, as Arthur Danto might have it; it contains contemporary takes on historical fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and philosophy. Selected texts, now in the public domain, are read anew to provide fresh insights about history, philosophy, art, politics, the contemporary world, and the boundlessness of ideas.
We welcome manuscripts and proposals of all kinds from creative writers, scholars, and artists. We are especially interested in those projects that sit between genres. Please contact us by email for details.
Looking for something special? Have a question about our titles? Let us know, and we'll get back to you soon.
